Badan Restorasi Gambut dan Mangrove (BRGM), in collaboration with the Center for Human Resources Development of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK), conducted a 5-day capacity building training on community paralegal in mangrove ecosystems in Bogor, West Java. The training aimed to minimize objections or conflicts related to mangrove rehabilitation activities in the Mangrove Caring Independent Village (DMPM), specifically addressing potential loss of rights and access by the local community. Therefore, systematic social impact mitigation was deemed necessary.### Key Points:- Participants: The training involved community representatives from the Mangrove for Coastal Resilience (M4CR) DMPM project in North Sumatra, Riau, East Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan.### Statements:- Masan Nurpian, Coordinator of Legal Aid at the National Law Development Agency (BPHN) of the Indonesian Ministry of Law, emphasized the crucial role of village government participation in minimizing conflicts at the grassroots level during environmental restoration efforts. The aim was for participants to provide legal assistance to communities.### Objectives:- Empowering Local Leaders: The head of the BRGM Participation and Partnership Working Group, Muhammad Yusuf, expressed hope that the training would produce community figures capable of representing and addressing conflicts effectively.### Focus Areas:- Skills Development: Participants, including community leaders and village officials, were trained to understand conflicts arising from natural resource management, particularly in mangrove rehabilitation. They received guidance on conflict mapping, negotiation, and resolution at the community level.### Participant Engagement:- Interactive Sessions: Participants enthusiastically engaged in discussions to identify common issues, explore solutions, and facilitate practical implementation.### Female Representation:- Perspective Inclusion: The participation of 20 out of 77 female attendees provided unique insights into legal challenges within communities, especially concerning the involvement of housewives in mangrove rehabilitation.### Ministry’s Appreciation:- Kusdamayanti, Head of the Ministry’s Human Resources Education and Training Center, appreciated the enthusiasm of participants, emphasizing the significance of developing key competencies in paralegal knowledge, report drafting skills, and professional ethics.
